Mare
The Sea
Overview
The maiden of eternal waters, she who was born out of necessity for protecting the basis of all life. Mare was created through a single tear, the salt filling the realm of Mundus, covering it like a blanket, the seas anchoring themselves as the pillar in which life could flourish.

The depictions of Mare are as broad as the realm in which she covers, many seeing her as the sea itself with no true form other than a symbolic nature of water, while others see her as a fair and beautiful maiden. Bronze colored in skin, covered in gemlike scales, which reflect the ocean’s brilliance, her eyes that of pearls, and even some see her as the creatures which exist in the depths of her seas monstrous and eternally hungry.

Those who have attempted to understand her nature see her as a mother who bares life, and she who brought air, wind, and sky into the realm, often seeking out her blessings for passage across waters, or protection against evil things, and many more simply seeking bounty out of her bosom which bares life everlasting.

History
Mare is stated to be the great mother, having been the hand to nurture the realm in which man stands, having ushered in the release of air, wind, and sky, along with the life that once sprung from her depths. From the time when she covered the world in her presence like that of a large blanket, her divine embrace helped usher in the creation of life from Mundus into a proper coalition. The cauldron which perfected the forms of land, still exist within the seas, along with many beasts and creatures which were to remain within her embrace.

The protecting nature of all water remains, acting as a catalyst to which Mundus’s blessing can bear effect. This being the main reason to which Mare acts as a barrier between great swaths of land, her embrace, the testing ground for which life was once ushered.

Realm
Mare sees all life as the fruit of her work, ever creating new and mysterious wonders within the depths of her bounty. The goddesses gems hidden in the most perfect place, an underwater garden to which peace is everlasting, a place of ushering in new and wondrous things. This pearl is hidden away, surrounded by the deep dark, and the monsters which swim within it. Her most precious of children which guards its gates.

Mythos
Mare, the Seas, being the Goddess of all waters gives her tears to the sky in which to fall upon the world. Common worshippers are sailors who wish to cross her bounty, fishermen who wish to taste the fruits of her great works, and alchemists who are said to study the methods in which she creates new found phenomena, seeing her experimentations as the “great work”.
