The Song of Someyri is a low fantasy roleplaying server based around a very dark world called Someyri. This is the kind of world you’ll find ghosts, undead, vampires and more without all the saturation of magic. The time frame is very late 1600s and early 1700s in terms of technology and cultures. Science, various forms of electricity, and more are being dabbled in. Cannons, guns, medicines, alchemy, and more are all within the spectrum of possibility alongside bits and pieces of magic through science.

The unexplainable is often dubbed magic until it is explained in science and the world is a swirl of curiosities, but due to the ‘bojati’, as is described in the origins, development and conquest are minimized. As of right now, going out into the world is dangerous if not fatal as the thick fog blinds the eyes and the monstrosities of the land hunt and feast on man. It is a world of survival of the fittest.

Thank you for joining us on this perilous journey. Perhaps one day you’ll help beat back the mist.

Getting Started
The very first thing we ask you to do is review our world lore. It will help you discover what the setting is and what is currently going on in the realm. It can currently be found here. After that, feel free to create a character to live in our world and develop in it. We typically recommend you figure out which race you want to place, then find your nation of origin. Maybe then look at other parts of the world lore to discover your goals and aspirations for your character. We do have an in-depth character sheet template that you can follow or you can make your own!

Nations Summaries
There are currently five nations that are known or still actively present in some form or another. Many nations, large and small, fell during the Third Era, or New Era, lost due to the growing bojati aggression that gets worse with each cycle.

The Golden Republic is the most prominent and steady of the nations of the New Era. It has been around the longest, having been founded by the elves early in the New Era during the time people were rebuilding. However, many of its city-states fell in the latter years of the New Era, leaving the last of its cities to just Balemoor, the Golden Republic capital. It is a bustling canal city based on an island in the eastern end of the continent. It is run by a gubernatorial seat with a senate that acts as a delegation of power. It is also the main place where the Orthodox Church of the many Gods has its High Priest, or Ecumenical Patriarch, and the largest cathedral.

The next major nation is the Obsidian Empire, or Obsidian Empire Remnants. It was a sprawling imperial state that covered much of the western side of the continent. Its main culture was very imperialist and nationalist. However, in the year 1626 NE, the empire fell, losing its war with the bojati. The remainder of the nobility were revolted against and the imperial family disappeared without a trace. Many of the old imperials fled to the Golden Republic or became scavenging remnants that travel nomadically or hide in old ruins as bojati pass by, but a shadow of its past self.

Then there are the Jarls of the North. The barren wastelands of the snow laden tundra were once filled with dwarven ruins and underground tunnels. Many of them collapsed or were destroyed during the rampage of the bojati but some were claimed and conquered by humans who rebuilt and remade the ruins into northern settlements. They thrive by hiding during bojati incursions and with various old dwarven tech that was left behind, such as pipes to pump water and keep the bojati at bay. The tundra itself seems rather barren of bojati to begin with, making them some of the more safe sanctuaries to dwell within.

Finally, there is the Storm Horde. It was once a large tribe of various ork clans but it broke apart in their greed for more. Now, much of the south is broken tribes, nomadic caravans, and various southerners who travel from the dunes often. They seek refuge in storms, flee the encroaching fog, and are the best at evading the bojati hordes.

Current Events
The year is 1659 and the realm has come to a stagnating halt. The bojati horde keeps people from progressing outside of their cities and communication between different lands. The development of inventions and new technology has also slowed as going out to make new discoveries is hindered by the constant bojati threat. Most are hiding in the city of Balemoor and that is where you will start your journey. Merchant, native or refugee, who are you? More of what has happened can be found
here.
